This is an alternate universe Soul Eater roleplay. Sort of. It actually follows the final events of the manga 100 years later. Things seem to be going great. So great that witches who have somehow found their way to a path not riddled with chaos and destruction are allowed to attend the DWMA as students. Some have even taken to becoming meisters, and with all of the mingling, there have been many cases of weapons being born with magical powers. The world is evolving under the watchful eye of Death the Kid, now known simply as Lord Reaper. Will you embrace the new way of the world, or will you get left behind?
The laughing sun was up high in the sky. A dry heat was making it unbearable to walk outside. Almost, if not all, of the air conditioning were on throughout Death City, with it being this hot. True, they should have known about it, after all, they were living in the desert. However, to last a few days, the temperature outside was above ninety-five degrees Fahrenheit. What anyone was wishing for was some way around the heat, hoping for rain or at least clouds to cover up the sun's rays.
Tessa was in that boat along with everyone who was in Death City. It was unbearably hot, and luckily for the Meister, the air conditioning in the apartment was on. Inside the apartment it was about seventy degrees as oppose to outside. Tessa had wanted it colder, but was unsure about her potential roommate about how cold they would like it. The Meister had liked it around mid to high sixties to be precise. It was cold to others, but just perfect to her. Maybe, it was something that she had kept from living up in Canada, though not for very long. Her parents had liked it cold, too.
Since Tessa's guest was not here at the moment, she took the time to briskly walk from room to room, making sure everything was at least a little tidy. Mostly, she kept the room's nice that were used. She took one more glance around the empty room which would now actually house someone. Tessa had dusted as well as vacuumed the carpet as well as the bed, making sure it was ready to be used by her Weapon partner, Yuki. Content with how the apartment looked, Tessa now just had to wait for her partner to arrive...
The pink haired Meister walked over to the fridge to get a bottle of soda, something she rarely drank. The drinks were mostly in there for others, but Tessa did find carbonated beverages nice every once in a while. Only taking one sip before hearing the ringing of the door bell. That must be her... Tessa thought as she had placed her drink on the coffee table then, started to walk towards the door.
Tessa's mind was flooded with a list of all that she had to do before Yuki had made it over to the apartment. Taking a moment to make sure everything on her mental check list was completed, she opened the door to let the minuscule Weapon inside. "Hello, Yuki." Closing the door, Tessa added. "Welcome home... or makeshift home, at least." The Meister had closed the door, then walked over to the Weapon. "Well, what would you rather do, unpack now or unpack later?"
"Okay... s-so I'm here... w-what now...?" Usually, when standing before an apartment door you are supposed to enter, most people ring the doorbell and wait. Not Yuki. She stood in front of it, staring it down and hoping some hole appeared so she could hide in it. Why was it so hard? It was a simple occurrence... Her newly formed partner offered to house her, seeing as the small blonde had yet to set up her own apartment. The nervous little weapon was too embarrassed to accept. Simultaneously, she was also too embarrassed to refuse when Tessa insisted out of politeness. Most partners live together too, it was a normal thing. But it would be the first time Yuki had ever lived with someone aside from her family. The Reaper must have had pity on her or something, because she luckily managed to net a solo dorm room for the months she spent there. And now it all changed. And instead of going about it normally, she anxiously gathered courage to touch that button which was so close but seemed so far.
The tiny little student had so much stuff with her too. Would it even be fine to enter with so much junk? Most of it was her own handiwork or the materials to make them. Clothing, sewing kits, drawing utensils and even Kamu-san, her pet venus flytrap. Yes, she had a pet venus flytrap, it is like a cute little bitey plant, it's adorable. Or, at least, in her opinion, it is. Still totalled seven travel bags. Four of clothing, two of arty stuff and a final bag with personal hygiene stuff. Well, mostly stuff to take care of her hair. An entire travel bag for hair products. It's really long hair. Don't ask how such a impossibly small girl carried that many bags. People just saw a long white dress surrounded by bags, moving somehow. That's totally what happened. Just don't question it.
Not even Yuki was sure why she hesitated so much. They were partners, were they not? They trusted each other so that, despite neither ever succeeding before, they resonated with each other and the young weapon finally accomplished her first transformation. Tessa offered, too! But maybe she didn't know her partner would have this many weird little hobbies... As she finally had it with her own indecisiveness, Yuki clenched her little fists, shaking them slightly as she exclaimed. "Ahh, mooon, watashi!" It was a mighty yell one could have probably heard if they were right besides her. Probably, they could miss it if they weren't paying attention. In any case, with her show of frustration came a burst of initiative that carried her finger to the doorbell. Realising what she had done, Yuki had an internal panic attack. What was she going to say? Did she look okay? She did bring too many things, didn't she?
Suddenly, a familiar voice greeted her. The door had opened to reveal Tessa's partner, dressed in a simple white sleeveless dress with frilly straps as well a single line of frilly material along the chest, covering her mouth for whatever reason. "Ah! Ano...! K-Konichiwa...! Eto... G-Good afternoon...?" Oh Reaper, she forgot which the appropriate greeting for the time was. Without thinking, Yuki walked inside when prompted, literally apologizing for her existence. "O-O-Oja- Er... P-Please excuse m-my intrusion...!" The young weapon hadn't yet managed to make eye contact, unconsciously glancing around the apartment. Then again, she was so nervous, not much of it ingrained. When the pink haired meister mentioned packing, Yuki finally turned to her partner with a baffled face. She had forgotten her bags outside.
Blushing terribly, Yuki apologized once again and turned back around, opening and going through the door. Then, she reappeared dragging a obviously overstuffed travel bag of nearly her size through the ground, as the miniature girl didn't have the height to lift it off the ground well. She was... having some issues with it, to the say least.
Tessa watched as Yuki walked into the apartment. For some reason the blonde Weapon kept saying she was sorry. Tessa waved her hand to say that there was no need for apologizing for something that she did not do. Although, watching the Weapon, Tessa had come to a sudden realization. She... spoke Japanese whens he was nervous about what was happening, or at least that was what she thought it was. "Afternoon. Truthfully, you are not intruding unless I did not invite you here. Which I did invite you here."
The Meister watched as her Weapon had a small freak out at the mention of the word packing. A face of worry struck the minuscule Weapon as her face shown a bright red. It was then that Yuki briskly walked out of the living room to go get her bags that she had forgotten out on the patio of the apartment. Looking out the door, Tessa saw the Weapon try to lift one of the seven bags that was now on the porch. Seven bags... What does she think this is, some vacation? I only brought two bags... Tessa thought. Then again, she did not have that much to bring. Looking back to her partner Tessa could not believe this, Yuki could not lift the luggage, no matter how much she tried.
Tessa took the moment to sigh then, had decided to help her. The Meister took the moment to grab a hold of the travel bag that was so obviously overstuffed and lifted it only with one hand. "Damn, what did you bring with you--your whole house?" It was heavy, but thanks to Tessa's training on her part, she could lift it with no problem. She only lifted it a little off the ground to get it over the threshold to get it inside. The pink-haired Meister had proceeded to lift each bag and take it inside the apartment to the living room.
The Meister shut the door when all of the luggage was inside. "Now that all of your things are inside, would you like to unpack or would you like to take the time to walk around the apartment to get accustomed?" Tessa paused to take a moment to look around at the room. "Sorry for the artwork. If you would like to I could take it down? Or if you have artwork of your own, we could share the walls. Oh, right. Would you like something to drink?" Tessa's thoughts were scattered. It had been a very long time since she had had a guest within the apartment. The Meister had to remember proper courtesy within a household, which was offering a drink or something to eat first...
It was pretty reassuring to hear Tessa say she wasn't intruding. In fact, the young weapon knew perfectly well she was invited. "Ah... yes, um... thank you..." It was still a bit hard suddenly pushing herself into someone's house like this. Hopefully, it would go fine. Well, it wasn't starting out all that fine, seeing as Yuki had already goofed by forgetting her bags outside. Plus, she was struggling with bringing them inside. Ooooh, how embarrassing! Luckily, her meister came to the rescue, actually lifting the thing off the ground rather than drag it across the entrance. "Eto... I-I'm sorry... I, um... I just... like... making clothes... I g-guess I made too much... I'm sorry..." Sheepishly, the tiny blonde apologized again as she helped her partner move the bags. More like, she kinda held on to the underside of the bag, sort of not really helping at all.
Once inside, Yuki finally took a deep breath and turned her attention to her new room mate, who was pondering what to do first. The minuscule girl had brought a lot of baggage, so maybe taking it all out of the way was a better idea. "Ano..." Her barely audible voice was interrupted as Tessa apologize about some artwork. Wondering what she mean, the little weapon looked around the apartment, this time paying attention. It was really neatly cleaned and arranged. Everything was so well tidied up, the place gave off this really calm and organized vibe. And there really were quite a few pieces of art on the walls. "N-no...! I, um... I rather enjoy art myself, so... i-it's okay..." A tiny smile appeared on Yuki's face as she looked at each piece. They were all so interesting in their own way.
Suddenly, the small scale weapon shook her head, realising she had ignored Tessa's last question. "Ah...! Sorry, eto... No, uh... I-I mean, it is a b-bit hot... so, um... a-a glass of water, please...? Thank you..." Yuki softly asked after going back and forth between apologizing and thanking her partner. But as quickly as she entered the mini panic state, Yuki went back to silently admiring the various pictures around the room. What wasn't so subtle were her expressions of wonder and glee as she glanced around.
Taking a look around the room, Tessa was satisfied by her cleaning job. The L-shaped couch was without a pinch of dust as was the coffee table that was cornered off with the couch. In the corner of the room that the couch cornered off was also a moderately sized TV along with three gaming consoles underneath. Before there was a lot of dust on the consoles, but Tessa took the time to dust them off as well as the TV. Tessa did not usually bother with the TV, instead preferring to work on her sketching skills. The neutral, white walls were bare with only drawings by the Meister. Most of the artwork that was hanging was of animals of all different species with a fantasy twist--usually having wings or horns. The carpet was a tan, almost brown, colour.
The Meister nodded as Yuki suggested some water for herself to drink. Tessa had walked to the kitchen, a little farther inside the apartment. She was right, it was sweltering outside. How did she manage to carry all of these bags, seven of them, to the porch? Hell, when she finally remembered that they were still out of the porch, the Weapon could not carry them! Maybe, she was too excited or nervous, working her adrenaline, to lift the heavy and overloaded luggage over to the apartment. Tessa let a small smile appear on her face. The thought of Yuki trying to make it up any kind of staircase with the bags was very amusing. Lucky for Yuki, everything was on one floor, including the main house. There were no stairs to get onto anything. It was small sure, but this was all the room that Tessa needed. Hopefully, there would be no problems with another soul to fill the empty room.
The pink-haired Meister came back with a water bottle that was chilled in the fridge and handed it off to Yuki. She continued to walk until she reached the couch, and then sat on it. "I'm not fond of doing dishes... so bottle it is." It was one of the few chores of daily life that she could not stand. It was mostly because her mother would constantly nag her about not doing a good job. Her father did not see a problem with the dishes, but would just shrug it off.
Bringing back the comment about making clothing, Tessa looked to Yuki. "So, you like making clothing? I'll have to commission you on a few pieces. I have them up in one of my... many sketch books up in my room." Tessa thought back to her room. She had a specific shelf on a bookcase that was full of almost, if not full, sketch books. She could not find any more room to fit any more sketches. Luckily, her parents would get her two new ones each year, one for her birthday, and one for Christmas. "So. what would you like to do? Truthfully, I am a very boring person, and I can be with only myself for... almost ever. However, I think what would be a good idea is to do something together, being partners and all. I read it in a book that it may help our resonating."
Such fantastical picturing of common animals. They felt like pieces of a themed set, but at the same time ever so unique, enough so to contrast with one another and stand out on their own. It was definitely a different, wilder style than Yuki's usual soft, calm depictions of nature. It wasn't often she had a more fantasy-like whim as thus, so these certainly brought a source of inspiration on the subject.
As she waited for the host / soon to be room mate to return, her attention finally deviated back to the rest of the adornments of the place, noting, again, how clean and neat everything was. What actually caught her eye were the gaming devices. The blonde girl wasn't entirely a connoisseur on the subject, but she wasn't as oblivious as to not recognize a console when she saw one. Or three. What surprised her was the fact that Tessa had such things, much more three of them. She seemed like such a serious person, video games wouldn't be the first thing Yuki would guess could be amongst the pink haired Meister's hobbies. Never judge on first impressions, eh?
As Tessa made her way back with the bottle of water, Yuki straightened herself, as if a teacher had come back into the classroom. "Oh, th-thank you. Ahah... I think I understand where you are coming from, Tessa-san... Dishes can indeed be such a bothersome thing, piling up so quickly without even noticing..." The young Weapon was quick to agree, despite the fact that she actually never felt as such. Although, it was a bit embarrassing, telling a lie, no matter how white it was. The guilty quickly overcame the minuscule one, took a bit of a way around to confessing her actual opinion. "Um... Actually, I don't much mind doing dishes... so... I could do them... i-if you don't mind, of course...! Hahah..."
With the change of subject back to her garment making hobby, the small female almost immediately blushed, even harder than she already was. "C-Commission...? I-I couldn't possibly... I never made any clothes to anyone other than myself..." It was a daunting thought. Never before had Yuki had someone expecting anything out of her handiwork. It was mostly because clothings fitting of her size were usually not of her age, often mismatching her already peculiar taste. So, making her own clothing someone came as a necessity. Plus, it was cheaper. And, in the end, she came to enjoy doing so. But for others?
After the little mental panic, it finally clicked what the second half of her partner's request entailed. W-Wait... sketches...? Would that mean Tessa drew as well? And... Looking back at the paintings around them, could they be something of hers as well? Rethinking on her posture in the requested favour, Yuki decided to pull away from her usual diminishing demeanour and went ahead with it. "Um... I-I'll give it a try... Seeing as you took me in, it's the least I could do... I hope you'll have me...!" Between glances and fidgeting, Yuki ended up with a slight, polite bow towards the Meister, her Japanese nature coming through rather substantially.
Tessa continued carrying the conversation for the two, which the palm-sized girl was unconsciously thankful for. It wouldn't be hard to guess the outcome if Yuki was the one supposedly doing the leading. Although, it was a bit hard dealing with the self-deterrent comment of being boring. Yuki just wasn't sure how to reply to it. But staying in an awkward silence, trying to think of something to counter argue without possibly making rude assumptions could be an even worse solution. "Oh, I've heard of that too. Eto... Other than making clothes... um..."
Thoughts of the afore mentioned sketches then came to mind. Deciding to give it a try, the young blonde brought the subject up. "Actually... I like drawing art as much as I like seeing it... U-Um...! N-Not that... I'm so good that I call my drawings art, i-it's just something I like doing, I wouldn't say they're pieces of art or anything, er- ooh, hazukashidesu..." Burying her face in own hands, Yuki just kind of gave up talking to prevent herself from spewing any more words she didn't mean to. English is hard, you guys.
