HOW DO CHARACTERS ADVANCE?
There have been many attempts on my part to create some sort of system which members could follow in order to advance their characters. After thinking it over we have decided not to implement any sort of stat system. Instead we plan to follow our own honor system, meaning that you can decide how you want your character to develop at your own pace- within reason. Think about it in terms of real life. How long would it take someone to develop a skill? How long would it take them to perfect that skill? All things take time and work. We expect you to make your characters work for their goals, becoming stronger within a reasonable time frame. You are the one who controls how your character develops, the mod team only steps in when necessary.
We hope that this lack of system will be able to remain in play. It makes things easier for us and easier for members, however if it seems as though it is being seriously abused we will put a more structured system up. Keep in mind that if your character seems to be developing at a rapid pace you will be asked to slow it down and, possibly, a recently obtained ability may become restricted until your character has progressed enough to use it. If you are asked to slow down, a staff team member will explain to you how you could advance your character at a more reasonable pace.
Be creative while trying to develop your characters! Think of it just the same as if you yourself were trying to learn to do something new. No one does something perfectly the first time around.
There are a few ways you can advance your character this way. The first way is simply by progressing your character's story. What's better than developing your actual character to further their abilities? In the Soul Eater Universe, a lot of the time powers and abilities show themselves at the most stressful times. Another way to do this would be to go on Missions. Here's the thing though, missions are completely controlled by you. As long as the mission isn't too outlandish and makes sense with your character's abilities then this is an excellent way to show the staff that you are trying to increase your character's abilities and make them stronger. This is also a great way to form a stronger bond with your character's team. The final most effective way to do this is by posting solo "training" threads, but an even better way would be to train with someone else whose character is more experienced than your own.
In order to keep up with your new abilities and your advanced abilities see the CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT board. Here you can create a thread in which you will document each upgrade you give your character. If a mod tells you any certain ability is overpowered you may be asked to edit it, keep that in mind. Adding overpowered abilities to your character is the same as taking advantage of our honor system and will be dealt with accordingly.
DO I HAVE TO HAVE A PARTNER?
On So Scandalous it is not necessary for your character's to partner up. A Meister and a Weapon can develop as a single force, however they would never be able to reach their full potential without partnering at certain times. In this time period of the DWMA it is absolutely not necessary to attach a character to another single character permanently. Feel free to partner with whomever, just make it make sense. Obviously the two character's should at least be familiar with one another.
CAN WITCHES HAVE A WEAPON PARTNER?
A witch can wield a weapon but they cannot wield one as effectively as a meister. Meaning they cannot use any abilities that a Meister has. They cannot form resonances. Some witches have the ability to imbue a weapon with their magical power for a short time but it is not as effective as an actual resonance. It is harder for a witch and a weapon to link their soul wavelengths as well. There are some witches who can't do it at all.
WHAT ABOUT SOUL COLLECTION??
First of all, witch souls are no longer collected and used for the purpose of increasing the power of a Demon-Weapon. Kishin-Egg souls are collected however. There is no real counter on this forum to keep up with these souls, but if you're taking missions and increasing your character's strength then it is assumed that your character is also collecting souls. When you think your weapon is strong enough to begin the transformation into a Death Scythe, contact a staff team member to work out the details. You may be denied and told to get more experience, keep that in mind.
HOW DO I MAKE A DEATHSCYTHE?
As mentioned, if your character is taking missions then it is assumed they are collecting souls. Once enough souls are (figuratively) collected you may begin the process to become a Deathscythe. The Soul Production Laboratory has found a way to produce imitation witch soul capsules. Although they do basically the same thing witch souls did for weapons many years ago, they are not quite as effective as pure witch souls. It takes 3 of these capsules to become a full-fledged Deathscythe and they cannot be administered at the same time. Each capsule contains a substance closely related to madness in physical form. Weapons on the path to becoming Deathscythes are closely monitored by the school. Each pill can be taken 1 month after the other.
Weapons who are undergoing the procedure are kept at the Lab until three pills are successfully administered. It should also be noted that if a Deathscythe falls prey to their madness (which is amplified by the pill) they run the risk of becoming a kishin and are dealt with. These weapons are destroyed. Each prospective Deathscythe is told the how risky this change is but no one knows this except for weapons who are about to start the transition or Deathscythes who successfully complete the pills. Obviously DWMA staff and scientists at the Lab are aware of this. Most people assume that the change is too much for some weapons and that's why they don't make it, which is sort of the case but their lives are taken by another person, not by the change itself.
IS THE FORUM ON LIQUID TIME?
Yes. You can be in multiple threads at once. On So Scandalous, time passes at the same pace as the real world. If a thread's time stamp reads that it started on 7/27/2015 (like this one) then that is the day that the thread takes place IC. You can RP things from an earlier date as long as you verify that in the first post of a thread. The day of a thread can change while posts continue. You cannot post things taking place in the future.
INCREASING A MEISTER'S LEVEL
Just as with the strict partner-system, the 3-star meister system is also no longer implemented at the Academy. Instead, any student's level of ability is gauged by what class they are in. A meister in Class One would have the same abilities as a three-star meister had.
WHAT ARE CHARACTER CLASSES AND MEMBERGROUPS?
Character classes are what defines your character's abilities. Membergroups define your character's race. Character classes are Class One through Six, Teachers, Scientists and Citizens. Membergroups that are allowed on the forum are Meister, Witch and Weapon. You can learn more about these HERE.
